The essential qualities one must possess to learn the guitar are patience and diligence. The instrument involves many fundamentals and one plays it well only by being sincere and avoiding cutting corners. Some of these fundamentals are hard to learn and only an expert could illustrate the theory with the context of the instrument. Hence one can learn to play guitar from a CD, where a well chosen expert demonstrates lot of learn-guitarexercises, tips and tricks to get familiarized with the strings and the frets.

This versatile instrument can be played in various styles. Although it is not possible to learn all of them at the same time, one can go about it one at a time. This is where the CD comes in handy because of the specialization of the course. Even before one starts with the first lecture and exercise on the CD, he or she is aware of what the end goal of the CD is and what should be accomplished by the time they reach the end of the 60 or 90 minute course.

You can get your learn to play guitar CD easily off any music stores near your location as well as on the Internet. By doing so, you can learn the guitar at home or on the move; all at the convenience of your own timings and schedule. Another way to make use of these CDs is to rip the tracks into.mp3 format and insert them into your mp3 player for lessons on the move.

To imbibe the knowledge imparted on the disc, one must constantly master the exercises one at a time. As there will be no one to check or enforce, the sincerity has to come from within. The CD imparts flexibility and one can use the free time as per mood to go through the lecture and the exercise and set a time frame to finish the exercise and move on to the next one. One of the advantages of the compact disc is one can keep going back to the lecture and demonstration to master the exercise or clarify doubts that might arise in the course of practice.

Here is a checklist of tips you must consider when buying an acoustic guitar. These will ensure you don’t buy a dud guitar or one acoustic_anatomy_smallthat’s not suited to you. Save time and money…read on.

  1. Pick up the guitar and have a good look at it.
  2. How good is the workmanship?
  3. Are there any bows or bulges in the guitar body or neck?
  4. Does anywhere look like the wood will split?
  5. If it’s a used guitar, how worn are the frets?
  6. Near the guitar body, are the strings a long way above the fret board? In this case, guitarists will say the ‘action is high’ which can make the guitar louder but also harder to play. A good guitar can be adjusted so ask the salesperson about that.
  7. Turn the tuning machine heads, are they reasonably sturdy?
  8. Sit down comfortably and hold it in playing position…does it feel good, kinda like ‘wow, I like this baby’?
  9. Next, tune the guitar with a tuner.
  10. Play some chords in different positions on the guitar?
  11. Play some scales in different positions on the guitar?
  12. How does it sound? Nice tone or sound for you? Is it how you envisaged having a new guitar would be? Are you EXCITED to have this instrument in your hands?? This is a very personal choice so don’t let anyone get in your ear too much about this. An indigenous Australian friend once said to me that his didgeridoo ‘found him’ not he found it. Think about that…What he meant was that when he was looking for a new didgeridoo, he played many and then one day he tried one and the sound, feeling, everything just told him YES this is the ONE! The same is true of guitars, believe me. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be the only guitar you own but it could be the ‘one’ for blues, or the ‘one’ for folk music.
  13. Anyway, keep playing the guitar…Are there any buzzing string sounds? If strings are buzzing, then possibly the action is too low (strings too low). As mentioned above, good guitars can be adjusted so ask the salesperson.
  14. Next really play the guitar pretty hard and then check the tuning. Still in tune?
  15. Check the tuning of all individual notes at the 12th fret and see if they are the same as 0 fret (important!).
  16. If you’re happy with all the above points, ask your friend or the salesperson to play the guitar so that you can hear how it sounds. Don’t let their personal view override yours if you are happy with all of the above. You want to hear how it sounds to you, not what’s going on in their world of wants and needs.

Remember to take your time to examine and play any guitar you are seriously considering so that you won’t be disappointed. Print this out for yourself and email it to your friends so that they make the right choices. Hope this helps.

Hip hop dance songs are the most popular form of dance music in clubs right now. However, what exactly makes a good dance song? Is it a catchy hook? Dope lyrics? Here’s the deciding factors for making a hit dance song…

First, the song itself should be unique, even if it is based on samples from other bands (many rap artists have successfully sampled George Clinton, Led Zeppelin and Queen just to name a few). The key to sounding unique is to add your own personal stamp on the song. Take Run DMC’s cover of Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way.” While the lyrics and guitar riff didn’t change, Run DMC’s personal style came through on the track.

For hip hop dance songs, tempo is also a deciding factor. Hip hop tracks tend to run between 90- 115 BPM, with dance hits tending towards the higher end of the spectrum. In addition to speed, a quality dance song should be well mixed. All this means is that the listener should be able to hear each instrument individually, without any one piece standing out too much. Think of a high school band: you know the kid who always played too loud and drowned out the string section? A well mixed song can avoid this.

Once the song is properly mixed, it’s time to master the track. This, along with mixing, is what separates a song your buddy put together, and a hot club mix. Mastering essentially smooths the song out and gives it that polished finish (think Dr. Dre beats).

I’ve included a list of hot hip hop dance songs that work in a club or at a party. Before I share it with you, a few points: First, I left out most underground rap in order to keep this list familiar to a larger audience. These are songs most likely to hear in a club. I’ve also listed a few songs from a few years ago, due to the fact that they haven’t been (too) played out.

Do you have Disco Dance Fever? If so, you need to celebrate! A Disco theme party can be a great way to celebrate a birthday of any age, honor a retiree or just plain have fun. Costumes and decorations will make this party even more fun and realistic.ist2_268634-disco-dance-party

Pick a theme for your dance party, whether it be disco, break dancing, rap or country and find coordinating decorations. A party supply store will have every theme for dancing the night away and all the trimmings to make your party a smashing success.

If Disco is your chosen theme, buy, rent or make a disco ball to hang in your party room. Whether it functions or not doesn’t really matter, it adds to the ambience of the set. Find old posters of bands and singers from the disco era and hang around the house or room.

You can’t have a Disco Dance Party without music! Use a karaoke machine to play only disco songs. Make it a competition for who has the best act. Turn it into an American Idol game and hand out personalized trophies as favorites or plastic records. Using the posters bought, see who can remember the names of the most acts. Winner gets to take an old record home for a prize.

Serve “Disco” food at your party. Serve things that are all round like the disco ball. Pizza, veggie trays, ham roll ups, cookies, brownies dips can all be made or put into circular dishes. Rename certain foods to give them a 70’s flair. Make Bell Bottom Taco Dip or Groovy Potato Salad to serve the hungry dancers.
